1. How do I sign up a child?

2. What age group of kids does TYM serve?
TYM serves children ages 8-18 years. Our 8-12 year olds attend a 5-day camp in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Our teens participate in a 5-day backpacking trip, which take place in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. All camps and back packing trips are gender specific.

3. Where is TYM camp located?

TYM operates a camp for kids 8–12 years old near Pescadero, CA. We offer several 5-day sessions during the summer months. Call for directions to camp. 408-719-9125.

4. What kind of training does TYM provide their volunteers?
We require all our volunteers attend a volunteer training that prepares them to handle potential difficult situations. We require all our volunteers be fingerprinted prior to working with our children.

5. Does TYM charge anything to foster parents?
All TYM functions including summer camp and year-round follow up are offered free of charge to our children.

6. What do the children need to bring to camp?

Camper Pack List (ages 8-12)

1 pair of extra tennis shoes
1 pair of sandals for pool (optional)
3-4 pair socks
Underwear (number personal choice)
1 Swimsuit
2-3 pair shorts
2 pair long pants (evenings at camp can be very cool)
2-3 T-shirts
1 long-sleeve T-shirt
1 sweatshirt/sweater
1 warm Jacket
Warm hat & gloves (optional)
1 sun visor/cap
Personal care items (toothbrush, toothpaste) There are no showers at TYM camp and no need to bring shampoo/conditioner/soap.
1 flashlight and extra batteries
1 towel
Pillow (optional)
Bug Repellent*
Sunscreen*
Sleeping Bag*
Sleeping Pad*

 

*TYM provides if your camper does not have.

7. How long are the summer camps?
All summer camps are five days long, beginning on a Tuesday and finishing on Saturday afternoon.

8. Are there guidelines for children at summer camp?

Teen Guidelines For Backpacking

No cell phones
No radios, cassettes, mp3 players or CD players on the trail
No vulgar language or blasphemy
No smoking or use of alcohol/drugs
No littering
Respect for all leaders and all teens
Valuables and jewelry should be left behind
