Help Us Reach Further Together

Hello TYM Family,

Warren Buffett, one of the world’s richest men, announced in June 2006 that he is giving 85% of his fortune to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to help the foundation pursue its longstanding goal of curing the globe’s most fatal diseases and improving American education. This is a $31 billion gift, certainly one of the largest acts of generosity in world history.  While this act of generosity is large and impactful, it relays one key principle: Gifts, no matter how large have the capacity to make a difference.

We believe this to be true at TYM as well.  Through your generosity, we have the privilege and responsibility to make a difference in the lives of our kids.  In the Bay Area alone, so many students struggle with their self worth and value due in large part to their circumstances. Our underserved population of children struggle to overcome challenges of crime, violence, lack of educational resources and family instability. However, with your help, we are able to change the trajectory of their lives–taking them from where they are to where God intends them to be. We cannot do this work without you which is why we are asking you to consider a gift to support our work as we enter the new year.

There is a compelling story in the Bible where Jesus feeds five thousand people. It illustrates for us that  with only five loaves of bread and two fish, God’s love can multiply the effects of our generosity (see Matt. 14:13-21). The story calls for us to ask ourselves, “What can God do with what I have to give?” Put simply, it’s a call to kingdom investment and we want to invite you to invest yourself through the resources God has given you–your energy, prayers and financial capacity–to support the work that God is doing through TYM.

Speaking on the news from Warren Buffet, The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation stated that there were, “two simple values that lie at the core of the foundation’s work: (1) “All lives — no matter where they are being led — have equal value and (2) To whom much has been given, much is expected.”

We believe the same.  As 2017 comes to a close, we are thankful for your investment and partnership with us as we embark on a Transformational Journey with students.
